Microsoft Japan Spring 2009 Title Preview

10:06

Hello! And apologies for the delay, we ar e finally live and in business...

10:06

The conference has just started, and Microsoft Japan President Sensui is on stage

10:06

They are announcing 31 titles for Japan today

10:07

They have sold 1 million 360s to date in Japan, so MS Japan is planning a *thank you* campaign

10:07

As part of that campaign, they will be giving away 1 million microsoft points

10:07

That:s a lot of Uno!

10:08

Also, a free dashboard theme download for all users

10:08

Now he`s going over a little history...

10:09

MS has been online for 7 years, they just released the new front end, etc, really pushing their strenght online

10:09

And now, on to the games...

10:09

A new title from Bandai Namco, he welcomes their representative to the stage....

10:09

Yoshihisa Kanesaka from Namco Bandai introduces himself...

10:10

Magna Carta 2, due out August 6...a trailer begins

10:14

...working on getting some pictures up....there will be full assets, including screens and (hopefully) movies after the conference...

10:16

Photobucket

10:17

...music goup GLAY talking about working on the game, and a commercial for it are shown....

10:18

next title from namco is...looks like a tekken cinma....

10:18

Yup, it:s Tekken alright

10:19

001.jpg

10:19

Tekken 6, no release date except for fall 2009

10:20

oops, wrong link there Photobucket

10:21

Now it:s on to Capcom, and producer Takeuchi has a video message

10:21

He is talking about a new trailer for Lost Planet 2...it will feature 4 player co-op play

10:23

the trailer shows 4 players on a giant...leech-thing, attacking it

10:23

graphics look impressive, in line with the previous trailers for the game

10:24

Now a video message from mr inafune from capcm, in his role as producer of Dead Rising 2!

10:24

He`s talking about the fact that foreig developers are handling the game...

10:25

Now, on to a trailer...I hope? Yes!

10:26

A very short gameplay trailer shows the new main character attacking zombies...looks like at this point, there arent as many zombies on screen as the last game

10:26

But anyone who remembers early movies for the last game will not be worried about that

10:26

The footage was all in various casino environments, as he attacked zombies with a chainsaw, broom, etc

10:26

Briefly showed him wearing a large animal skull like a mask

10:27

There should be a movie like it up soon on the Xbox marketplace, president Sensui adds...

10:27

Now a representative for Sega takes the stage...

10:27

It:s Takayuki Kawagoe

10:28

He`s going to talk about their new RPG wit Tri-Ace, End of Eternity

10:28

The director from Tri-Ace takes the stage...

10:29

Takayuki Suguro

10:29

And now, a trailer

10:30

Alll CG so far, two men fighting, a large army shooting

10:30

Aha gameplay!

10:30

Combat looks good, if not FFXIII level

10:31

Game will be coming in Winter 2009

10:31

It looked like there were different weapons listed along hte side in the battles...perhaps you can switch on the fly?

10:31

The director is back and talking about the battle system...

10:32

It`s not command battle, but he`s not getting into much detail

10:32

Except to say they do view battles as very important, so they are working hard on it

10:33

Next up, Bayonetta

10:34

Which is pitched as `Climax Action` in Japan, apparently!

10:34

producer yusuke Hashimoto takes the stage

10:34

And now a trailer...

10:34

That`s right, ellipses are back

10:35

Looks so far like the most recent trailer...

10:36

Yep, she just turned into a cat...check this trailer out if you havent yet, pretty impressive

10:36

If memory serves right, there were a couple of new scenes and a differet ending, but at least the same basic trailer....

10:37

oh, now they are actually oging to show us climax action, they say...

10:38

Bayonetta is on a large clock face, that is falling through the sky, fighting tons of stuff

10:39

The whole thing is spinning and rotating as it falls, background scenery, clouds, landscape, everything twirling

10:39

Looks -insane-

10:39

She`s ripping apart her enemies with chains and other weapons, they explode into bloody chunks

10:40

Very DMC, god-of-war, a choir singing in th ebackground

10:41

evey once in a while time slows down for `witch time` -- the screen darkesns and she attacks

10:41

This must be the boss, a giant, two-headed dragon

10:42

wow...level over, tallys up the players score, end of `verse 1` -- you earned a gold medal! not bad

10:42

Now a little more standard gameplay, in a level without enemies

10:43

Showing off all her different moves and animations

10:43

Game is running incredibly smooth

10:43

She runs down a corridor and into a courtyard...

10:44

Here come a set of angel-winged enemies, Bayonetta pulls out her pistols and combat begins

10:45

She combos an enemy into a guillotine, snaps her fingers and it falls on his head; he bursts into bloody bits

10:45

Every so often button prompts appear on screen, quicktime-event style, presumably for bigger moves or combos, other attacks, etc

10:46

a meter along the right side keeps track of all kinds of combo info and bonuses

10:46

Here comes a baby^faced boss with a giant axe

10:47

We`ve seen him before in screens and videos

10:47

She is kicking the shit out of him, sometimes literally with a giant foot made of hair

10:48

Wow, she transforms into a GIANT black dog-like beast, dwarfing the once-huge boss, and tearing him to pieces with her giant jaws

10:49

And that was Bayonetta, release date is Fall 2009

10:49

And that`s it for Sega today

10:50

Next to the stage, MS xbox marketing guy, Joji Sakaguchi

10:54

Running through some older games now, Mass Effect...

LITTLEBIG PLANET DO PSP A TODO VAPOR :reibr: :reibr: :reibr: :reibr: :reibr: :reibr: :reibr:

Three things most of us will readily admit to loving: LittleBigPlanet , Stephen Fry, and Stephen Fry involved in even more LittleBigPlanet. For those of you lucky enough to be associated with the masterful British comic's work, this can only be good news as the technologically-superior Fry has confirmed his vocal skill will be helping make the upcoming LittleBigPlanet PSP version even better. From his official Twitter site:

"I've come to the end of a lush voice-athon and yes, am empowered to confess that it was for a new PSP version of Little Big Planet."

This is great, if not unexpected news for fans of the growing LBP franchise and PSP owners in general. Not much else is known, but head on over to Fry's official Twitter site to see just how useful (and time-wasting) the service can be. Recent post as of this writing: "Shall now cook something so ineffably scrumptious that angels will weep. Or possibly I'll have baked beans. Tough call. " - Genius!

NINTENDO NEGA Q GTA DE DS FLOPOU-SE

When Rockstar Games announced last year that they were bringing their Grand Theft Auto franchise to a Nintendo platform, it looked like a shift in the cosmos had occurred. The original Grand Theft Auto was a late 1997 PC game that was planned to be brought over to the hot consoles of the day: the Sega Saturn, the Sony PlayStation, and the Nintendo 64. PlayStation ruled the day in those times and in the end the franchise made its mark on Sony's "32-bit" market-changer. The only time Nintendo got to catch onto this rising star was with the two Game Boy Color editions abstractly representing the first two games in the series. The new game was a welcome addition to a very diverse library. Hopes were high that GTA would strike fire on the redhot Nintendo handheld and convince the self-stated "hardcore" contingent that Nintendo systems were open to all kinds of developers.

But it didn't quite work out that way. The Business Insider's Silicon Alley Insider reported that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (full impression ) only sold 88,704 units in its March month debut well under the 200,000 to 450,000 expectations of industry analysts. Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive expressed optimism in the game's long term success and now Nintendo themselves defend the performance of the game against the tsk-tsks of the analysts.

Steve Singer, Nintendo of America's Vice President of Licensing and Third-Party Relations tells MTV Multiplayer Blog the following in a phone interview:

‘Chinatown Wars’ is performing in line with AAA titles that have come to our platform like 'Spore' or 'Lego Star Wars'. Those games went on to have very different life-to-date sales numbers.

Another Nintendo representative present brought attention to the case of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for the DS (released November 5, 2007 in North America) which initially had 36,000 in opening month sales going on to sell more than 500,000 units.

Singer blames the situation as "the result of having only a limited number of M-rated games on the platform." DS only has had 7 so far. He believes word of mouth will help the game in the long run and expects the assessment of the gam's performance to be very different 5 months to a year from now. He points out Nintendo's history of "non-traditional sales curves" of games that start out modestly but sell steadily in an evergreen pattern. And he said that consumers are responding to the quality of the game even if "maybe they’re responding slower than others would expect."

Singer didn't speak out on Nintendo's own sales expectations when pressed on the issue but in the end he hopes that the sales story of GTA: Chinatown Wars will be an encouraging one for game publishers. He leaves you with this quote:

I think strategically, this is a very important game because it helps send the message that great M-rated content can come to the platform and will find a home.

To make sure the point was made he said to give it time. "I think all it's going to take is time."

According to VGChartz.com, sales of the first handheld edition of a Grand Theft Auto game, PlayStation Portable's Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (released October 25, 2005 in North America), sold 161,806 units for the Americas in its opening week which completed the month of October. In 4 weeks time the accumulated American sales (primarily consisting of U.S.A.) was 327,872 units. The second handheld GTA, PSP's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (released October 31, 2006 in North America), sold 50,670 units for the Americas in its opening week. In 4 weeks time the accumulated North American sales was 134,275 units.

Worldwide, GTA: Liberty City Stories has sold to date over 5.67 million units and 2.6 million in the Americas. GTA: Vice City Stories has sold to date over 3.37 million units worldwide and 1.43 million in the Americas.

PSP was more popular in the U.S. in 2005 than it is now so this perhaps explains the great expectations of what's sure to be the best-selling handheld in videogame history. But the case of Wii Music being called an outright flop with its lackluster October 2008 numbers only to pick up the pace the following month shows that all may not be apparent from opening sales. And while it's true that Wii Music and games like it probably didn't live up to its producer's expectations, all the fuss and bother seems to be coming from the expectations of industry busybodies who feel chagrined when the numbers don't match their analytical ideals.

In my opinion I would have to partially agree with Nintendo and the public statements of Take-Two. The true story—win, lose, or draw—will not be apparent until time passes.

Thanks to Edge and the MTV Multiplayer Blog .

Japanese game maker Square Enix and manga mag V Jump are teaming up for a "next-generation blockbuster."

In a preview page for the next month's issue, a short blurb reads: "Square Enix [and V Jump] begin 'Project V', which will create a next-generation blockbuster! Perhaps your ideas will become reality?!". This title could possibly feature characters from Jump properties in some sort of Square Enix universe. Or something. Regardless, let the speculation begin.

NIS America also confirmed with us that the company will be showing off a currently unannounced PlayStation 3 RPG at the event. RPGamer will have an interview available regarding this game shortly after the event.

Besides the unannounced title, it can be assumed that Phantom Brave: We Meet Again and possibly even the already confirmed Mana Khemia 2 will show up at the event. At previous events, in past years, NIS America revealed Blade Dancer and Dragoneer's Aria.

Lionhead showing new IP at E3?

Source: Lionhead animation director Andrew Lindsay, as related by a Swansea Metropolitan University student's Twitter feed.

What we heard: Last month, BBC radio and television personality Jonathan Ross claimed through his Twitter feed that he had been tapped to provide voice work on Lionhead's as-yet-unannounced next project, Fable III. While it remains unclear whether Ross was referring to Fable III or simply to downloadable content for Fable II, Twitter has again stirred up the rumor mill regarding Lionhead's future endeavors.

According to the Twitter feed of Swansea Metropolitan University student, Lionhead animation director Andrew Lindsay confirmed that his studio was at work on an all-new intellectual property and that the first details on the project would arrive as part of this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo in June. Lindsay supposedly delivered the news as part of Swansea Metropolitan University's AmperSAND digital medium forum, where he had been scheduled to speak tonight.

When contacted by GameSpot, the student offered a few more details from Lindsay's presentation. "Every now and then industry heads visit our class," he said. "Not much was said really, just that an announcement for a new game of a new franchise will be revealed. He showed off some incredible facial animation and spoke about some skin textures (put skin up to a light and the red translucent glow)."

While not concrete, the information fits with recent statements made by Lionhead studio head Peter Molyneux. As part of his Game Developers Conference presentation, Molyneux himself nearly outed the title. In describing the cost structure of the Lionhead Experiments program, Molyneux noticeably checked himself, saying, "I almost said the project we were working on. That would have been disastrous!" Molyneux also noted during that presentation that Lionhead plans to incorporate a Portal-esque gameplay mechanic into one of its future titles.

As for the potential of an E3 reveal, Molyneux also said at GDC 2009 during an interview with GameSpot that Lionhead was getting close to showing off what it has been working on. "I feel more empowered to be able to do the most bizarre, most out-there ideas, and I think interestingly you're going to see the product of that come forward very soon," Molyneux said. "I think Lionhead's almost ready to start showing the world what happens when you feel safe about experimenting and inventing and prototyping, and that can lead to some pretty amazing things and we've got some amazing things in our pocket."

The official story: Unfortunately, neither Lionhead nor Microsoft had anything to say on Lindsay's apparent reveal. "We cannot comment on rumour and speculation," a Lionhead representative told GameSpot. [uPDATE] Late on Wednesday, Microsoft provided GameSpot with the following statement: "Lionhead is always exploring new game concepts and we are constantly exchanging ideas about new stories we can tell and experiences we can deliver to our customers through games. As soon as we have something to announce, we'll let you know."

Bogus or not bogus?: Very tentative not bogus. With Fable II wrapped, downloadable content isn't likely to occupy the entire studio's attention. Plus, Molyneux's statements lend a good deal of credence to the notion that something will bubble over soon.

O preço previsto é entre US$ 10 a US$ 15, ainda sem data confirmada.

SONY: A MICROSOFT É DONA DO ESCRITÓRIO, A SONY É DONA DA SALA DE ESTAR E A NINTENDO É DONA DO ARMÁRIO"

LOL

You have lots of data -- years of data. What percentage of people actually do buy more than one console in any given generation? Do you have any data on that? Because that's a phenomenon that I would guess is overrepresented in the enthusiast press and the enthusiast audience compared to the broad consumer.

PD: It might be overrepresented. I'm not sure I have a percentage for you, but you're probably talking millions of people and not tens of millions because we know that there are tens of millions of consoles that get sold. It's not the majority; it's the minority of folks.

But they happen to be the 80-20 rule, right? They may be in the minority, but they're buying an awful lot of software, whereas once you get to the broader audience of folks who buy a lot of hardware, they buy fewer games -- back to your tie ratio question.

Julie Han: The other point, I think, to what Peter said earlier, is that PlayStation products tend to be at the living room hub. Even if folks are playing playing the Wii and have a PS3, the Wii tends to stay in the closet, and the PS3 is...

Peter Dille: Yeah, I don't want to steal [CEO] Jack [Tretton]'s quote, but he's fond of saying: "Microsoft owns the office; Sony owns the living room; and Wii owns the closet." And that's an aggressive, probably quotable line.

Mais detalhes sobre VO:OT

Sega preps HD rerelease of arcade twin-stick robot fighting game Oratorio Tangram for Microsoft's downloadable game service.

When Sega's Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram made its North American home debut on the Dreamcast in 2001, it lacked two things: the online play of its Japanese counterpart and a standard controller capable of replicating the twin-stick controls of the arcade game. Those issues will be addressed next week, as Sega has announced an April 29 launch of Oratorio Tangram for Xbox Live Arcade.

Online multiplayer action isn't the only new feature being added for Oratorio Tangram's Xbox 360 debut. Like Sega's Live Arcade rerelease of Rez HD, the new version of Oratorio Tangram will give the game's graphics a high-definition upgrade.

Finalmente! (?) Ps3 a 299 Euros, Price-CUT no PSP e anuncio definitivo do PSP 2!
