Sony has formed the ‘PlayStation PC’ label for its PC games push  :lolmor:

LABEL REGISTRATION IS SEEMINGLY ANOTHER SIGN THAT PLAYSTATION INTENDS TO TAKE PC SERIOUSLY

playstation-pc-768x461.jpg

PlayStation has formed a new label specifically for its PC gaming operation, it’s emerged.

On Wednesday Steam users noticed that the platform holder’s PC releases had their publisher switched to ‘PlayStation PC LLC’, from the previous PlayStation Mobile label.

According to a Corporation Wiki listing, Sony Interactive Entertainment registered the PlayStation PC name in April this year via its California-based headquarters.

Although the name appears to be a formality, it represents another strong signal that Sony intends to increase its gaming output on the PC platform.

Sony’s first modern PC ports were Horizon Zero Dawn in August 2020 and Days Gone this May.

Looking ahead, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will also make the jump to PC in 2022 – “shortly after” they arrive for PS5, and God of War was announced as an upcoming PC port this month.

Another PlayStation title, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, may be coming to PC too, according to a listing spotted on Steam’s database this week.

In a corporate report published last summer, Sony first said it would explore bringing more PlayStation exclusives to PC, following Horizon Zero Dawn’s release on the platform.

Then earlier this year SIE’s president confirmed PlayStation would bring “a whole slate” of games to PC.

Speaking to GQ, SIE boss Jim Ryan said that the opportunity to bring PlayStation’s IPs to a wider audience, as well as an easier port process, meant that making more games for PC was now “a fairly straightforward decision” for the company.

Asked why SIE is now embracing PC, whereas before it was hesitant to bring its games to the platform, Ryan said: “I think a few things changed.

“We find ourselves now in early 2021 with our development studios and the games that they make in better shape than they’ve ever been before. Particularly from the latter half of the PS4 cycle our studios made some wonderful, great games.

“There’s an opportunity to expose those great games to a wider audience and recognise the economics of game development, which are not always straightforward. The cost of making games goes up with each cycle, as the calibre of the IP has improved.

“Also, our ease of making it available to non-console owners has grown. So it’s a fairly straightforward decision for us to make.”

PlayStation recently acquired Nixxes Software, which is best known for its work on the PC versions of Square Enix properties including Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Hitman and Thief, to help it bring its games to the platform.

PlayStation reports another record quarter with 13.4m PS5s sold

SONY’S GAMES DIVISION GENERATED MORE REVENUE THAN IN ANY OTHER PREVIOUS Q2 PERIOD

PS5-twitter-a-768x436.jpg

Sony’s gaming business has reported another record quarter in terms of revenue, as the PlayStation business continues its run as the corporation’s most fruitful division.

On Thursday Sony reported that its games and network division generated $5.86B in revenue and $0.751B in profit between July and Sept 2021.

As shown in the data below collated by Resetera, this represents PlayStation’s strongest ever Q2 period in terms of sales and revenue and the second biggest revenue quarter ever outside of a holiday window (Q3). Operating profit was down 21% YoY.

During the three-month period, Sony reported that it sold some 3.3 million PS5 consoles – which represents an increase of 1 million over Q1 – bringing the total number sold to 13.4 million.

In comparison, around just 200,000 PS4s were sold during the same period, compared to 1.5 million a year before.

Sony sold 76.4 million PS4 and PS5 games during the three-month period (down from 81.8m last year), it said, 7.6 million of which were first-party titles (down from 12.8m YoY).

The company’s best-selling first-party PS5 games so far are Spider-Man: Miles Morales (6.5m – also available on PS4), Demon’s Souls (1.4m) and Ratch & Clank: Rift Apart (1.1m).

PlayStation Plus subscribers increased by around one million since Q1 to 47.2m users, which represents an increase of 2.2 million YoY.

L6wcsAj-768x240.jpg

However, PlayStation Network monthly active users declined for the third quarter in a row to 104m (down from 105m, 109m and 114m in previous quarters).

Overall, Sony enjoyed its biggest revenue and operating profit ever for a Q2 window, driven mostly by PlayStation, music and electronic products.

As with most electronic companies, Sony’s PlayStation 5 sales have been hampered by the ongoing component shortages caused by the pandemic.

Speaking during Sony’s previous financial call in August, CFO Hiroki Totoki claimed that Sony had secured enough semiconductors – which have been in short supply during the pandemic – to achieve its fiscal year target of selling 14.8 million PS5s.

“The shortage of semiconductors has impacts in various areas and through various measures, we have been taking some action,” he said.

“For PS5, the target has been set for the number of units to be sold this year, and we have secured the number of chips that is necessary to achieve that. Regarding the supply of semiconductors, we are not concerned.”

A versão do PS5 gratuita é a completa (acredito eu) e vem com a expansão The Frozen Wilds e roda 60 fps.

Ghost of Tsushima & More PlayStation Games Leak For PC

A new NVIDIA GeForce leak has revealed that more PlayStation games are coming to PC, like Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Forbidden West, and Returnal.

Nvidia-GeForce-Ghost-of-Tsushima-Cover.j

A new leak involving the NVIDIA GeForce service has revealed some of the PlayStation games that are coming to PC in the future, including Ghost of Tsushima and Returnal. The identity of several upcoming PC ports of console games was potentially revealed in September when a datamine of the NVIDIA GeForce service brought up several names and tentative release dates.

The original leak featured several massive announcements, assuming that they are true. It included games like Kingdom Hearts IV, Chrono Cross Remaster, Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster, and a PC port of Shin Megami Tensei V, which is currently meant to be a Nintendo Switch exclusive. NVIDIA responded to the leak, saying that the names were speculation only and shouldn't be taken as gospel. Fans have doubted this statement, as at least one of the games on the list was proven to be legit when Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition was announced.

A new leak has been revealed by Okami Games on Twitter, which was taken from an archived Git Hub page. This leak not only confirms some of the games on the previous list, but it comes with some tentative release dates. The list mentions a number of PlayStation games coming to PC, in 2022, with Ghost of Tsushima set to launch on February 8, Horizon Forbidden West on September 30, Ratchet & Clank on October 3, Returnal on April 4, Sackboy: A Big Adventure on May 1, and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on February 7. These dates likely aren't set in stone and are subject to change. This leak should be treated as a rumor for the time being.

It's no surprise that more PlayStation games are coming to PC, as Sony created the PlayStation Mobile label for this very purpose. What's more surprising is the speed at which some of the games are coming to other platforms. Ghost of Tsushima is a little over a year old, while Returnal was released in 2021. Fans expected Sony to hold off for a few years on bringing some of its bigger titles to PC, as a quick release diminishes their value as exclusives. It seems Sony disagrees if these dates are to be believed, and there is plenty of reason to think they are just loose placeholders.

Microsoft already uses a simultaneous console/PC launch for its games, which some believed damaged the Xbox One when compared to the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, as it didn't have any true exclusives. It remains to be seen whether Sony's PlayStation games on PC strategy will pay off, especially in an era when it's still difficult to acquire a PlayStation 5 in the first place.

Sly Cooper PS5 Game Reportedly Began Development This Summer

filmes_11350_sly2.jpg

It's been more than eight years since the release of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, and fans of the PlayStation series have spent most of that time begging for a new game. Rumors about a new Sly Cooper game on PlayStation 5 have been circulating over the last few months, with some claiming that development has already started. However, if a new rumor is to be believed, it could be a bit of a wait, as development may have only began recently, possibly this past summer. That rumor was shared on Twitter by @KrowakiTv1, and seemingly confirmed by insider Shpeshal Nick.

The Tweets regarding Sly Cooper can be found in the Tweets embedded below.

As with any rumor, readers are advised to take this one with a grain of salt. If a new Sly Cooper game is in early development, it's possible we won't hear anything about it until there's something to show. Earlier this year, Sly Cooper made an appearance in a promotion for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, so PlayStation clearly hasn't forgotten the character. It's even possible that the positive reception to the promotion inspired PlayStation to revisit the series. However, it's impossible to say for sure.

Sly Cooper might not have the same level of recognition of Ratchet and Clank, but the games do have a passionate fanbase. The series debuted in 2002 with Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus on PlayStation 2. That game was followed by two sequels on the platform, as well as Thieves in Time on PlayStation 3. Thieves in Time ended on a cliffhanger, leaving fans with the hope that a fifth game might be announced, but it's been more than eight years since, and developer Sanzaru Games was acquired by Facebook in 2020. Sucker Punch Productions developed the first three games, however, and it's possible the team could be planning a return to the series. Hopefully, PlayStation won't keep Sly Cooper fans in the dark for too much longer!

PS5 reportedly no longer loses functionality when its CMOS battery dies

TEST SUGGESTS CONSOLES CAN NOW STILL PLAY GAMES AFTER INTERNAL COMPONENT EXPIRES

vgc-social-split__hardware-1024x576.jpg

PlayStation 5 consoles reportedly no longer lose game playing functionality when their internal CMOS battery dies.

That’s according to a new analysis by Hikikomori Media, which appears to confirm that a PS5 with a missing or expired CMOS battery can now run physical and digital PS4 and PS5 games.

The only exception are games claimed via a PlayStation Plus subscription, which will no longer work with an expired or removed CMOS.

Previously, tests suggested that PlayStation 5 consoles would retain some game playing functionality after their CMOS batteries died, but most physical PS5 discs and all digital games would no longer boot.

The CMOS battery powers PlayStation consoles’ internal clock, and when players try to start a game on the console it will compare the internal clock with the date and time on a remote server to make sure the player is verified to play them.

If the battery is removed or dies, the console will ask players to manually enter the date and time when it boots, and then attempts to sync the date and time online.

However, previously when the PlayStation Network was experiencing server issues and the console couldn’t connect to it, no games would be playable.

This previously meant there was a risk that should Sony ever close the PlayStation Network in the future, and given that the CMOS batteries naturally die over time, it would theoretically lead to consoles eventually being unable to play games.

Following much discussion around the issue earlier this year, Sony released a September firmware update for the last-gen PlayStation 4 which ensured that the console would continue to work when the CMOS battery died.

In March, Sony announced plans to close the PlayStation Store on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation Portable in the summer.

Following backlash from players, the company made a partial u-turn in April, stating that it would no longer close the PS3 or Vita stores but was still planning to close the PSP store.

Journalist Brittany Vincent argued in a VGC column that the games industry needs to increase its efforts for preserving video games, before more titles are lost to time.

https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/ps5-reportedly-no-longer-loses-functionality-when-its-cmos-battery-dies/

Uncharted 4 for PC and PS5 has been rated, suggesting a release soon

PLAYSTATION HAS PREVIOUSLY STATED THAT THE PS5 VERSION OF THE REMASTER WOULD RELEASE FIRST

uncharted-legacy-tiheves-collection_484v.jpg

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection has been rated by The Australian Classification board, suggesting a release date isn’t far off.

The PC and PS5 collection, which will contain Uncharted 4 and expansion The Lost Legacy, was announced in September and carries an official release window of “early 2022”, with the PC version arriving “shortly after” PS5, according to Sony.

However, analysis of previous Australian game ratings suggests that the collection could arrive as soon as February 2022.

Previously, Microsoft’s Forza Horizon 5 was given an Australian classification on August 3 and released today, November 9.

Halo Infinite was also rated in August and eventually issued a release date of December 8. Microsoft has previously suggested Halo’s date was chosen to avoid other shooters releasing in November.

Although no details have been revealed for Uncharted 4’s PC port, the PC version of Days Gone contains a number of new features, including support for ultra-wide monitors, an unlocked framerate and improved graphical detail.

PlayStation has recently stated its commitment to increasing its output on PC. In a corporate report published last summer, Sony first said it would explore bringing more PlayStation exclusives to PC, following Horizon Zero Dawn’s release on the platform.

Speaking during an investor call in May, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan said that further PC releases would happen this year “and beyond”.

Last month it emerged that PlayStation has formed a new ‘PlayStation PC’ label specifically for its PC gaming operation. Although the name appears to be a formality, it represents another strong signal that Sony intends to increase its gaming output on the PC platform.

Rumor: PlayStation May Announce a 'Big Remake' in December

New announcement details for an upcoming PlayStation remake comes to light and even mentions a possible reveal sometime in December.

sony-playstation-remake-december-announcement.jpg?q=50&fit=contain&w=960&h=500&dpr=1.5

Remakes and remasters of older games have continued to be a major component to modern consoles. Companies with long running or popular franchises have been looking for ways to bring these games back for modern audiences, ranging from complete remakes like Final Fantasy 7 Remake or even the upcoming Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Others have simply ported older games with quality of life updates like Mass Effect: Legendary Edition which includes the first 3 games with improvements.

Sony is no stranger to remakes either, launching a completely remade Demon's Souls alongside the PlayStation 5 console. Rumors continue to swirl around the company regarding more plans for another classic PlayStation game to be revived. So far, there's been no definitive information on which franchise it might be and with the huge catalog of IPs Sony has access to, it's anyone's guess. However, the time frame for a potential reveal has been narrowed after one person involved with the game's development has come forward.

Sony Interactive Entertainment Patent Dives Into Providing a “DLSS”-Like Solution for Better Picture Quality

It would appear that Sony gaming division may be looking into some image and performance improvement solutions along the lines of Nvidia’s DLSS and AMD Fidelity FXSR, as their latest patent explores methods to improve image quality, and filling in missing data via a combination of machine learning and computer-based implementation.

Filed this past April, with it going public at the end of last month, the latest in patent from Sony Interactive Entertainment details a potential solution to offering users better image quality.

Vou continuar aqui e posto feedbacks.

Tô jogando no Hard.

Tô jogando no hard tb.
