Sony Expects PS5 Sales to Skyrocket Once Supply Demands are Met, Aims for 22.6 Million Units Per Year

Targeting a new annual sales record

ps5-sales-22-6-million-per-year.original.jpg

Unsurprisingly, Sony has very big plans for the PlayStation 5. Up until now, stock has been strangled due to coronavirus complications — both on and off the production line — but the console is still selling out almost immediately whenever it is actually up for sale. As the Japanese giant has mentioned previously, it's aiming to bolster PS5 supply quite significantly in the next fiscal year, and this plan of action has led to the company projecting some huge numbers.

During Sony's latest shareholders meeting (as translated by users on ResetEra), CEO Kenichiro Yoshida revealed that the firm is aiming to sell 22.6 million PS5s per year, once supply goals have been met. Achieving that figure would make the PS5 Sony's best selling console ever on a yearly basis. That annual record is currently held by the original PlayStation, which did extraordinarily well all the way back in 1998.

It's an ambitious target, but given how well the PS5 is selling, despite constant stock shortages, it seems entirely possible. Clearly, Sony is expecting sales to pretty much explode as soon as it can satisfy demand, and it'll certainly be interesting to see just how well the PS5 fares over the next year or so.

alguém sabe a lógica disso?

ND, Insomniac, Guerrilla, Sucker Punch, London,...

E está rolando um rumor de que a SP vai lançar esse ano uma expansão single player do Ghost of Tsushima, nos moldes do Miles Morales/Lost Legacy, supostamente chamada Ghost of Ikishima.

Guerrilla Games Has Reportedly Been Working On An Unannounced Game Since 2018

GuerrillaGames-768x494.jpeg

Guerrilla Games may be knuckling down on development of Horizon: Forbidden West for the PS5 and PS4, but the studio also apparently has a second title in production, and has been working on it for around three years now.

That’s at least according to the LinkedIn profile of Simon Larouche, an industry veteran who has over 20 years under his belt, which reveals he served as Game Director in early 2018 on an unannounced title. This does back up previous reports that the Killzone studio has two major titles in parallel development, the first being the aforementioned Forbidden West.

However, it’s anyone’s guess as to what this other game might be, although we’re betting that there’s many of you out there who are hoping it’s a new Killzone game. Regardless, if it has been in development for three years now, then an official reveal surely can’t be too far off.

It’s worth mentioning that Larouche has a number of impressive games on his portfolio, including Killzone 2, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Watch Dogs 2 and the shelved Rainbow Six: Patriots, the latter three with Ubisoft.

Guerrila Games hasn’t made any announcement about this mysterious second game, so don’t take it as official until they decide to drop a reveal on us.

Horizon: Forbidden West is currently pencilled in for a 2021 release on PS5 and PS4, but that may yet change.

CrossCode Looks To Be Getting A Native PS5 Version Which Will Release Tomorrow, June 29

crosscode-ps5-version-release-date-768x4

It looks like CrossCode is finally getting a native PS5 version, after originally launching for PS4 last year.

The critically acclaimed title launched on Xbox Series S/X at the launch of the consoles, but hasn’t been seen on PS5 until now, thanks to a listing on the PlayStation Store in regions where it is June 29, 2021. For example, you can find it on the New Zealand PlayStation Store.

We loved CrossCode when we reviewed it at the PS4 release of the title and highly recommended it. You can read our full review here. Some DLC, called A New Home, is set to release this Summer, so we can expect to see that on both PS4 and PS5 once Radical Fish Games have more details to share.

CrossCode is available now on PS4 and is playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility. A native PS5 version of the game releases on June 29, 2021.

Ótimo jogo, diga-se de passagem...

Looks Like the PlayStation IP in Development at Jade Raymond’s Haven Studios Will Have Multiplayer

Untitled-3.png

Sony Interactive Entertainment recently announced its partnership with Jade Raymond’s Haven Studios to develop an exclusive PlayStation IP. Neither party has revealed anything about the title beyond the initial announcement, so we have no idea what’s cooking. However, if a series of job advertisements is anything to go by, the mystery title will have multiplayer and live service elements.

As spotted by Reddit user nolifebr, Haven Studios recently published several vacancies on LinkedIn – all of which make reference to multiplayer. For example, the company is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who has significant experience in networking, multiplayer, and live games. Haven Studios is also seeking a Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer and an Online Software Engineer with past experience working on cloud platforms.

“We are currently hard at work on our first project – an original, exclusive IP for Sony,” the job description for Online Software Engineer reads. “The Online Software Engineer will be acting in the full stack composing our game, from developing and maintaining game features to instrumenting, operating, providing debugging tools and frameworks for all parts of our distributed solution. They will be involved in designing and implementing systems that can scale with large populations of players and be easily maintained in the long run.”

Sony is known for its critically-acclaimed single-player games, but has been delving into multiplayer lately. The company has also partnered with Deviation Games – headed by Call of Duty veterans – on a brand new IP.

Synced of the Planet: mate hordas de nanozumbis runners...

We will see the first gameplay of Next God of War Game on Sony’s Next Event

3367242-godofwar-1140x641.jpeg

Shpeshal_Nick recently tweeted “I’m being told we’ll see our first gameplay of the new God of War at Sony’s show too. Will be exciting to see.” and he has been very reliable in terms of leaks in the past he also leaked Ghost of Ikishima which is a standalone type game similar to Lost Legacy and Miles Morales it will be revealed during Sony’s Next Event which is most likely a PlayStation Experience Event.

This event is supposed to happen on 8th July according to rumours.

PlayStation currently has 25 First-Party Games in Development and I am pretty sure many of them will be showcased at that event.

So far some of the games that are most likely going to be there are Death Stranding’s Director’s Cut, The Next God of War and Ghost of Ikishima and I think that they will reveal The Last of Us Remake or Naughty Dog’s multiplayer standalone game at that event as well but again this part is just speculation based off previous rumours and stuff.

Sony Files PSX Trademark To Conduct Game Conferences And Exhibitions

Sony's PlayStation Experience, commonly abbreviated to "PSX," hasn't been held since 2017, though a new trademark filing suggests it might come back.

In new documentation found on the US Patent and Trademark Office directory, Sony has filed a new trademark for something dubbed "PSX."

According to the documentation, the trademark is for "arranging, organizing, and conducting exhibitions and conferences in the fields of entertainment and video games" both online and offline, as well as providing entertainment and educational services including "video game playing and news [...] conferences, meeting, and networking events." The filing was submitted on June 11 and will be reviewed by an examiner in approximately three months.

"PSX" is the abbreviation Sony typically uses for its PlayStation Experience event, an annual conference the company has held since 2004 in Europe and 2014 in the US. 2017 was the last PSX event the company has put on as 2018's showcase was cancelled. Though Sony hasn't attended E3 since 2019, the company has hosted several livestreams under the State of Play moniker.

It's worth noting "PSX" was also the codename for the original PlayStation.

Sony's May 2021 State of Play came with 14 minutes of Horizon Forbidden West gameplay, showing off new combat abilities and traversal mechanics. Unfortunately, a release date for the PlayStation exclusive was not revealed.

Mesma resolução e pop in em ambos PS5 e XseX.
